A lot of my best ideas are sitting in folders. At some point I stopped thinking that was a problem.

Why I keep a paper notebook

Not a productivity thing. More of a stubbornness thing, if I'm honest.

Learning how an agency operates. The volume is high, the margin for error is low, and the attention to detail is serious. Getting to witness what white glove client service and operational excellence looks like from some of the best in the business.

Contract role at Downtown Music processing and validating royalty statements. Seriously data-heavy, QA, cash reconciliation, metadata ingestion across high-volume workflows. Opened up a pretty technical and quantitative side of the industry: how money actually moves from DSPs and PROs through to rights holders at scale.

Interned at Red Light Management supporting a range of artists across day-to-day operations. Got hands-on across a lot of different areas, labels, booking, merch, marketing, and digital, and came away with a real appreciation for how much a single manager can shape an artist's career across all of them.

Got to work with a cool small group of people doing big cool things for music in Philly. Was given lots of trust (and money) to book talent across multiple different venues. Helped reinforce organizational infrastructure and develop the business through cross-functional marketing to get more people to see great music.

Got to see the raw side of how a catalog acquisition actually works, what comes in the door, what's in it, and how you get it organized and into the hands of the right teams. Worked across asset management, metadata, copyright, and quality control. A pretty unique look at the IP side of the music business.

Started as a concert YouTube channel with my friend Dan. From there it grew into basement shows, a website, a blog, documentary attempts, crappy tour booking, before finally landing on just concert promotion. Became the fastest growing independent promoter in Philly, going from my basement to real rooms with touring talent in about a year. Took the lead on most everything myself, booking, marketing, ticketing, operations, settlement. Had lots of support from friends and cool people to make night of show happen. Booked shows in pizza shops, outdoor raves on the Delaware river, and emo gigs in VFW halls. So much fun and learned a lot about what I like to do.

Supported the talent buying team at a well-established Philly-area promoter. Helped with booking, research, and general admin, a good early look at how a real promotion operation runs.

Did multimedia production work for a great public jazz radio station in Philly. Little bit of everything, audio, video, camera, editing, some web design and branding too.

My first internship, working for a small video production company run by a guy named Karl who was full of energy and a great example for anyone who wants to own a business. First week on the job he threw me and a friend into filming a documentary following doctors treating unhoused communities in the woods, the film ended up getting shown at two film festivals. He let us get really involved across the board, video editing, camera operation, direction, writing, and interviewing.

and before all of that i was a pool service specialist, a bus boy, a doordash driver, and i worked on a farm. before all that i was a child.
music
I make music under the name Cliff Nawrocki. You can find it on Bandcamp and follow along on Instagram.
I also played guitar and sometimes sang in Codex County Line.
Played in friends bands Dead Love Triangle, Fair Game, Blood Moon Ball, and for one night played in a 10 member cover band for the greatest rock and roll band ever, The Replacements.

The Replacements
The greatest rock and roll band ever.
Interesting Times with Ross Douthat
Can't speak on Ross' politics but undeniably conducting some of the most important interviews of our times.
Jackass
Simply the best.
TBPN
What a great vision and outcome for a show. Will be the blueprint for so much new media.

What football will look like in the future
Such an interesting multimedia experience. Jon Bois took an idea and ran with it all the way until there was nowhere left to run. Click and read if you have not already, I don't want to spoil the surprise.
Top Gear
You don't have to like cars to love this show. So unserious and funny and sometimes amazingly profound. Some of the best travel media ever. Great hosts with a super talented team behind them.
Philadelphia
Made this with a friend after the Eagles won the NFC championship and think it's a good reflection of the city. It was completed while sufficiently inebriated the same night they won. Dude, we thought if we made it that night it would have like a million views in the morning. I love Philly and can go on about it forever.
The Steroid Era Was Stranger Than You Remember
What seems like a baseball video is a 2 hour saga on steroid culture, the war on drugs, and 80s America.
Sayings, proverbs, maxims, turns of phrase, idioms, aphorisms
Love a well placed saying. Rickyisms are great too.

Terry A. Davis
Hard guy to describe but I suggest you look into him. It's a tragic story but a brilliant display of intellect and how it doesn't always fit into normal society.
Algernon Cadwallader - Spit Fountain
W/o sarcasm, this video has shaped my life in ways I never ever could have imagined. It made me seek out house shows as a lonely college freshman and get involved in the Philly music scene. Through it I found lifelong friends and a career. So wild.

I'm not quite sure what to do with the "other" section yet.
